Policies & Procedures

Having policies and procedures in place is really important for community groups because they help keep everyone safe and make sure things are done fairly and consistently. They also show that your group takes its responsibilities seriously and is following the law, which is vital for things like safeguarding and data protection. Clear policies give guidance on what to do if something goes wrong, help manage risks, and build trust with the people you support, your volunteers, and funders.
Our Communities Team is here to help members create policies and procedures that suit their group’s activities and services. We also provide access to a range of free resources, including template policies that organisations can download and adapt. If you choose to use templates, it’s important to tailor them to your organisation’s needs — and we’re happy to support you with that process.
The Charity Commission provides a wide range of publications and guidance to help charities and community groups develop strong policies and run their organisations effectively.
These resources cover essential areas such as safeguarding, governance, financial management, and legal compliance, making them a valuable tool for ensuring your group operates safely, transparently, and in line with the law.
If you would like any support with policies and procedures please give the Communities Team at The Roundhouse Community Hub on 01442 247 209 or email volunteering@communityactiondacorum.org.uk
